Member declarations

Early Career membership declaration 

Early Career members of The Ivors Academy receive 50% off their Core membership. Members must declare that they are eligible against the criteria below. 

Criteria 

Early Career members of The Ivors Academy must be, either: 

• Within 3 years of starting their songwriting or composing career, OR 

• In full-time education, or have recently graduated, 

At the time of applying for membership. 

Entitlement 

If members are eligible for Early Career membership, they are entitled to remain on that membership tier for up to three years. Early Career discount can only be claimed once. 

Joint membership declaration 

Joint members of The Ivors Academy receive a discount on either their Core membership or Professional membership. Members must declare that they are eligible against the criteria below. 

Criteria 

Joint members of The Ivors Academy must be a member of one of the selected partner organisations at the time of applying for membership. Joint discount can only be used for one of the selected associated membership organisations. 

Entitlement 

If members are eligible for joint membership, they are entitled to remain on that membership tier for as long as they remain a member of the eligible organisation.

Professional membership declaration 

Professional members of The Ivors Academy are individuals who are active career professionals in songwriting or composition. Members must declare that they are eligible against the criteria below. 

Criteria 

Professional members of The Ivors Academy must be: 

• A voting member of the Performing Right Society or other recognised music collecting society, OR 

• Can demonstrate that they have equivalent income arising from the composition of music, OR 

• Have appropriate qualifications to be a Professional member 

At the time of applying for membership. 

Entitlement 

If members are eligible for Professional membership, they are entitled to professional member benefits, including: 

• The right to elect Professional members to the Senate 

• The right to stand for election to the Senate 

• The right to pay for their membership via their PRS for Music Royalties (if they have sufficient royalties to cover the cost of their membership dues). 

Pay via royalties declaration 

Professional members of The Ivors Academy have the right to pay for their membership via their PRS for Music Royalties (if they have sufficient royalties to cover the cost of their membership dues). 

By choosing to pay for their membership via royalties, members understand that The Ivors Academy will recover the cost of their Professional membership directly from their royalties on an annual basis.
