How to use this service

1. Understand the basics: make the most of your one hour slot by knowing the basics will save valuable time and give you the best chance of making the most of this service. You can read our Knowledge Toolkit for a breakdown of the music industry in manageable chapters, and get further into topics in our career guides. You can also use our industry template contracts to familiarise yourself with industry standard contract types.
2. Come prepared: have your contract, documents or relevant files ready.
3. Complete our accounting referral form by clicking the ‘get started’ button on the right-hand side of this page. The more info you can give on initial request, the more likely the lawyer will understand your situation and decide the appropriate course of action.

Terms of use

• Please allow 3 – 5 working days for your request to be processed plus additional time for lawyer allocation. Allocation times can vary depending on the nature of the query and advisor availability – while time sensitivity of each query will be taken into consideration, this service may not be suitable for urgent queries.
• This service provides general accounting guidance and may not be suitable for reviewing full contracts or resolving complex legal disputes.
• There is no obligation for advisors to continue beyond the allocated one hour.
• Completion of the referral form does not guarantee a consultation, as all referrals are subject to lawyer availability and capacity.
• Not all situations may be able to be resolved through this service. Members may be advised to seek independent legal support outside the scheme if necessary.
• The Ivors Academy maintains the right to discount queries due to misuse of this service from individuals.
• Each query is handled on a case-by-case basis.
• Make sure you answer all the questions accurately and honestly. Give appropriate detail where necessary and make sure that you are stating clearly what your desired outcome from using this service will be.
